Downtown Lancaster is buzzing the 1st Friday of every month. Over 60 art galleries and shops
extend their hours and stay open to 9:00 PM - some even later! Year round, hundreds of people flock
Downtown to experience the city's upbeat, hip ambience, and experience the range of artistic offerings
concentrated in an area that is easily explored by foot. Receptions for featured artists are common
and Downtown restaurants are busy with crowds of hungry strollers bent on making the evening a tasty one.
It's an authentically urban experience that rivals events hosted by much larger cities.
An equal number of Lancaster's unique owner-operated boutiques open their doors for these First Friday events.
A free First Friday trolley runs from 6:30 - 9 p.m.,on a 20-minute loop through the Downtown core.

Walk from artist reception to gallery exhibit, shop for that perfect gift in our eclectic boutiques and shops, and complete the evening by filling up with great food and drinks at a nearby city restaurant. It is a unique experience for everyone to enjoy! More information on the LancasterARTS .

APRIL IS ART LOVERS B&B GETAWAY MONTH!
Awake to the beauty of original art work by Lancaster Artist Liz Hess at the King's Cottage!
For the entire month of April a variety of Lancaster artists' work will be on display at select Lancaster County
bed & breakfasts! Each Sunday afternoon from 1- 5 pm there will be open houses for art lovers
to view the art work and tour the beautiful bed & breakfasts!

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Once a year artist Liz Hess travels abroad to spend several weeks painting on location. Through her paint brush, she explores those beautiful destinations which she visits. One of her most popular collections is the Red Umbrella series which was first created during one of those trips. Following the solitary figure with the red umbrella, Liz takes the viewer on a journey to locals such as Tuscany, Provence, Paris, London, and more. She has also introduced several local Lancaster places of interest into the series. The Red Umbrella collection will be featured during the month of April at King's Cottage B&B with the artist in attendance from 1 to 2:30 for 3 of the 4 Sunday receptions.

BREAKFAST WITH THE ARTIST

Guests staying at the King's Cottage will have the opportunity to have breakfast with Liz and discuss her work on select weekends in April:
Liz will be at here Saturday morning April 12 and Sunday mornings April 6 & 27.

MID WEEK SPECIAL

Stay 2 or more nights in April, including a Wednesday night, and receive $50 off your stay and a special pass to the private "by invitation only" Wednesday night (5:30pm - 8:30 pm) Art exhibits at select bed and breakfasts. Art Lovers will have the opportunity to meet local Lancaster artist, Liz Hess, at the Wednesday open houses here at King's Cottage on April 9 & April 30 from 6:30 to 8 pm.

QUILT AUCTION ON OCTOBER 4, 2008
at STRASBURG FIRE HALL
In the fall, they hold an annual Quilt and Craft Sale, not only quilts and crafts but many other items. This is held at the fire station. This event will take place on the first Saturday of each October. Doors open at 9:00 AM and we sell until everything is sold.

Lancaster Barnstormers Baseball Games
The Lancaster Barnstormers play right here at Lancaster's beautiful Clipper Stadium, just 2 miles from King's Cottage! Come enjoy some fun and fresh air watching the 2006 Atlantic League Baseball Champs! The regular season ends in Sept. More details on the Lancaster Barnstormers 2008 season!
